Nutrition and Diet

Diet is what makes up the food eaten or the sum of food consumed by a person. While nutrition, in diet is how the food nourishes our body through the foods eaten.

A good nutrition means that you are getting the proper nutrients, minerals and vitamins essential for the body to work at its best. Through good nutrition, you can achieve improvement in cardiovascular functions, metal well-being that includes good cognitive performance, fast healing of wounds, recovery from certain ailments, reduced risk of acquiring heart problems and osteoporosis, as well as high resistance of the body to fight illness.

There are several factors that impact a person’s level of acquiring healthy diet or good nutrition. Such factors like the age group, gender, person’s height and weight, culture or beliefs, health status and activity level.

Therefore, in order to observe a healthy and nutritional based diet, you need to consider the following information on good nutrition:
  • Eat variety of fruits and vegetables.
  • Take more calcium rich foods to keep your bones healthy.
  • Have whole grain foods like cereals, oats, wheat, rice or corn a day as part of your daily meals.
  • Get more protein from the foods you eat.
  • And lastly, try to limit on you salt, sugar and fat intakes.
