Guide for the Needs on Different Age and Stage in Life

There are different nutritional needs for every different stages and specific age groups among people.

Below are the three (3) stages which are more specific in human life to best discussed areas of nutritional needs and food recommendations:
  • Children – Every child must be provided the right amount of food recommended in food guidelines for them to receive the complete nutrients they need in order to grow and thrive. There are several ways and assortment of ideas on how you can provide your children the complete or standard nutrients they will need while they are growing.
  • Kids can determine how much food they are able to take throughout the day. Consider and   give due respect to your children’s ability to determine the amount of food they are able to consume since they are capable of adjusting on their food intakes.
  • For them to eat healthy, become a good mentor or a role model to your children. Eat meals together as often as possible to create a great atmosphere of bonding. Eat vegetables where they will be able to follow on your steps to healthy eating.
  • Encourage your children to drink more water to replenish their body fluids; kids are quite active when they are younger. Have them drink about 2 cups of milk everyday for their daily requirement of  Vitamin D. Let them eat fruits and vegetables more often.
  • If your child rejects unfamiliar food the first time, be patient, you can still offer it the next time. Kids need more exposure to the unfamiliar foods for them to accept.
  • Kids are very active so give and allow them to play by organizing fun physical activities for them to enjoy.
    • Women of childbearing age- women of child bearing age needs additional nutrients or calories especially on the different stages during their childbearing years.
    • Additional nutrients such as folic acid must be considered, they are contained in dark leafy greens, lentils, beans, orange juice and on grain products.
    • Those women who are getting pregnant and are breastfeeding must allow themselves to take daily multivitamins containing folic acids of about 400mg on their daily food supplements to decrease the risks of neural tube defects or NTD’s.
    • Pregnant women additionally must take multivitamins that also contains their daily iron needs.
    • Women who are pregnant and on lactating stage needs more calories. They must be able to consume an extra 2or 3 servings of food each day from any of the food group recommendations.
